Ladhosan Dhahar : The Essence of the Javanese Rijsttafel

The Javanese Rijsttafel Ceremony is a refined cultural dining ritual inspired by the traditional Javanese slametan (communal thanksgiving feast) and the colonial-era “rijsttafel” (Dutch for “rice table”).
It represents
abundance, gratitude, and harmony, expressed through a grand meal of many small dishes served in ceremonial sequence.

It is a symbolic act of unity and blessing, where food, performance, and etiquette come together into celebration.

Ladosan Dhahar is a ceremonial dining experience, inspired by the royal food etiquette of the Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat (Yogyakarta Sultanate). It is described as a “royal Javanese rijsttafel” style lunch or dinner, integrating palace-style rituals,z menu of Sultan’s favourite dishes, and formal presentation. The meal begins with an escorted procession of the “jodhang” , a specially crafted wooden box containing the dishes, carried by staff (abdi dalem) in traditional court attire
